Meatball Parm Sandwich

It’s time for the classic meatball parm sandwich. This satisfying meal works well for lunch or dinner. We’ll show you how to create your own meatballs but completely understand if you just want to buy some from your local market. Your choice!

Serves 4

Meatballs

  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves peeled and diced garlic
  • 1 small onion diced
  • ½ - ⅔ lbs ground beef (at least 15% fat)
  • ½ - ⅔ lbs ground pork
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup finely chopped Italian parsley
  • ¼ cup bread crumb

For the sandwiches

  • 4 (6 - inch long) sub, hero or hoagie rolls
  • 1 jar Classic Red
  • 4 - 6 slices mozzarella cheese or more
Salt and pepper to taste
Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Prepare the meatballs
In a large bowl, add all the ingredients for the meatballs. Using your hands, mix well until fully combined. Generously season with salt and a bit of pepper.

Preheat the oven to 350. Coat a large saute pan with olive oil and bring to medium-high heat. Shape the meatballs into desired size. Just bigger than a golf ball works best for a sandwich. Brown the meatballs on all sides until just crispy. Then, transfer the saute pan to the oven and bake for about 15 minutes.

Let cool for a few minutes while you prepare the rolls. Prepare a cookie sheet lined with tin foil. Split the rolls in half keeping them connected. Add a generous amount of Classic Red to the rolls along with meatballs, a little more Classic Red then top with sliced mozzarella cheese. Broil just long enough so that the cheese is melted and starts to brown.

Devour immediately!
