The possibilities are endless. This hearty version is what we like to serve when we have meat-eating company over for dinner.
Mild Italian sausage
1 white onion, finely chopped
2-4 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and pepper
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 jar Jar Goods Classic Spicy Tomato Sauce (you can also use any of our other Tomato sauces!)
18 ounce package of large, frozen, cheese-filled ravioli
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Remove sausage from its casings. Brown sausage in a large skillet over medium high heat. Break it up with the edge of a spatula or other utensil. Once the sausage is nicely browned set it aside. Add the onion and garlic to the pan and season with salt, pepper and oregano. Saute for 4-5 minutes until soft and translucent.
Add in your jar of Classic Spicy, Classic Red, Classic Vodka, or even Vegan Vodka tomato sauce! Add sausage back in, stir to combine, and let simmer for 15 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Spray 9x13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray.
Spread one cup of the Jar Goods tomato and sausage sauce in the bottom of the baking dish. Top with ⅓ of the frozen ravioli, another cup of the remaining meat sauce, ⅓ of the mozzarella cheese and a ⅓ of the Parmesan cheese. Repeat in layers until all the ingredients are gone. If you have any tomato sauce leftover be sure to spread it over top of the final layer. It will gain a sweetness as it caramelizes in the oven - yum!
Cover with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove aluminum foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes.
These go fast so you will want to make sure there is plenty to go around. Make extra andmaybeyou'll have leftovers for lunch the next day. Simple and fun to make. Satisfying and delicious to eat.
